Coming to Châteauneuf to follow in the footsteps of Marthe
Go to Marthe Robin's room
To get to Marthe's room, you have to go through several doors...
The front door that opens out onto the courtyard of the farmhouse is entirely white. A cross was hung on the wood by Joseph, Marthe's father.
In the main room, the old cast-iron stove is kept alight and you can make out a log burning inside. The furniture is understated and rustic: a large dresser, a sturdy farmhouse table and a clock whose mechanism marks the passing time. People talk in hushed voices.
Just a few steps away is a second door that leads to a corridor. Like a vestibule before finally pushing a third door latch and entering Marthe's room.
A place of peace for gathering one's thoughts
Submerged in darkness, the room has been preserved in its original state: the tiny couch on which Marthe lay, the chest of drawers with a reproduction of the picture of Our Lady, photos of the Robin family, some objects of piety, etc. Several rush chairs for sitting down and allowing the peaceful atmosphere that prevails in the room to soothe you.
It's time to pray. The moment of inner dialogue. And perhaps that of a meeting with Marthe who is mysteriously present in this place.
Even today, Marthe's house, and more particularly her room, have not lost their predisposition to silence and peace. They are an invitation to experience a personal encounter with the Lord.
